The Ghana Football Association
(GFA) on Monday 24th April 2017 entered into a signed partnership for
four years with Electroland Ghana Limited. The subsidiary NASCO will be sponsoring
the Official Man of the Match and Coach of the month awards of the Ghana
Premier League(GPL).
NASCO, now have official confirmation
to use its brand name of the following category of awards; NASCO Player of the Month and NASCO
Coach of the Month respectively. Mr Vincent Azan-gbiok, the National Sales
Manager of Electroland, mentioned that the GHc253,000
worth of products to the beneficiaries will commence from the week 14 of the
2016/2017 Premier League season.
This great initiative by the
Ghana Football Association and the Ghana Premier League Board will go a long
way to motivate players and coaches to perform effectively.
Ghana Sports needs more cooperate
sponsors for the various games in the country, especially the Ghana Premier
League which has over the years struggled with sponsorship.
GFA must also consider
categorizing the various sponsorship packages and some of the good benefits these
organizations can get from sponsoring the league. For instance, Headline
Sponsors, Platinum, Gold, Silver among others. The more sponsors the league
gets the more interesting and great value it would reap.
Also, this same sponsorship
should also be extended to the fans as well. It should be used as a means to
get more fans onto the stadia. For instance, an initiative of a raffle, can be introduced
to select few people to try an activity during the 2nd half of each
match and prizes of sponsors be given to the winner. Many people are enticed
with “goodies” aside the excitement of the game, to go and purchase a match day
ticket. We see most of them in other international games such as the NBA, MLS
among other. GFA can begin from that angle and will eventually win the interest
of Ghanaians to patronise the Ghana Premiere League games.
Meanwhile winners of the awards
for the NASCO Player and Coach of the month will receive a sleek NASCO mobile
phones. GFA and PLB members present were George Afriyie, Vice President of GFA,
Ibrahim Sanni Daara, Spokesperson for GFA, Ashford Tettey-Oku Chairman of the
Premier League Board, just to mention but a few.
