Asamoah Gyan Commissions Astro-turf for Alma Mater - Accra Academy

Captain of the Senior National team, Black Stars of Ghana has constructed a $200,000 ultra-modern astro-turf for his alma mater – Accra Academy Senior High School.

The commissioning of the pitch is on Tuesday 18th July 2017 at 3:00pm. As part of the event, there would be a match between PFAG vs GYAN 11 and Accra Academy Vs Ebenezer SHS.

Dignitaries expected to be present for this historic moment are His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, His Excellency President Jerry John Rawlings, Old Boys of Accra Academy, Representatives from Ghana Football Association, Ministry of Youth and Sports among others.

Speaking to some loyalist of team Asamoah Gyan, they mentioned that this magnificent pitch is part of his bid to develop the grass root sports in the country and must also spread his generosity to other places in the country as well.

Kwame Ntim, a driver and a diehard fan of Asamoah Gyan urges other Professional players who can afford to also do same or better for the country.

“the project should encourage other players to also get involved in such initiatives. As a footballer, with all the funds they get, they should be able to give back to the society particularly where they came from. We pray that he will continue with such good initiative” Ntim said.

Meanwhile, Gyan is the all-time leading goal scorer for Senior National Team, Black Stars with 51 goals and was recently honoured with Honorary Doctorate as Honorary Personality of Exemplary Leadership by Alfred Nobel University Economics and Law based in Ukrainian. On June 2017 he was also honoured with the Order of the Star in the 2017 Calcio Trade Ball (CTB). He now plays for Kayserispor, a Turkish football club in the city of Kayseri.
