Ghana’a
celebrated Poet and Playwright , Chief Moomen, owner of WogbeJeke show is likely to file a lawsuit
against the Ghana@60 committee for failing to pay the balance from the
amount he charged prior to the Ghana@60 program. His claim was as a
result of the Chairman of the Ghana@60 , Ken Amankwah committee who refused to pay the balance of GHc100,000.
Citifmonline revealed
that an amount of GHc100,000 was initially paged to Chief Moomen. The
chairman who also mentioned that there was no signed contract with Chief Moomen.
Surprisingly an amount of GHc100, 000 was payed to him without
approval by the Committee. “Does it mean Chief Moomen charged the
committee GHc200, 000 for the show without any proper procedure?
Should Commey take the fall for the Chairman? Was there any form of
oral contract or promise?
The
Chairman of the Ken Amankwah added that the Poet was paid GHc100,000
by the subcommittee chairman Lord Commey who was later reprimanded
and sacked. Mr. Amankwa also claimed that the show was sponsored by keysoap.
But the question is, did the Ghana@60 team seek the sponsorship from Keysoap for
the show? Did they play any role in getting other sponsors for the show?
Meanwhile,
an amount of GHS 5.26 million was released from the
Ministry of Finance for the Ghana@60 anniversary which included GHS3.1 million
from government of Ghana sources of funding and GHS2.16 million from the
District Assembly Common Fund.
Perhaps
the GHS100,000 cash that was paid to Chief Moomen came
from the GHS 3million of the amount allocated to the office of
the Chief of Staff at the Ghana at 60 secretariats? The composition of the
funds as highlighted by citifmonline was: “GH¢5.26 million, GH¢ 3
million went to the office of the Chief of Staff at the Ghana at 60
secretariats while GH¢100,000 and GH¢2.1 million went to the 100 regional
coordinating councils and 216 district assemblies respectively”.
WogbeJeke is
