Returns on Alvaro Morata £60m to Chelsea: The next big thing?

The 2016/17 Chelsea English Premier League(EPL) winners under Antonio Conte has agreed a deal £60m to sign Alvaro Morata Real Madrid striker who is expected to complete his medicals shortly.

A critical study and evaluation of Morata in his performance in Real Madrid and the move to Chelsea in times when Diego Costa would be existing from the starting squad was a good deal for Chelsea.

Morata, often spotted in the 16yard box coupled with his quick reflexes and consciousness for goals, often referred as the “decider of faith” when he was the key mask man in the Old ladies of Juventus. Nonetheless, with his mastery over the ball and long-range shots, he could be the next top goal scorer in the next season for Chelsea should he have a good collaboration with Hazard upfront and Williams among others, connecting the balls to him. “He will obviously put the balls at the back of the net at a least available chance”.

The Spanish international scored 20 goals for Real Madrid last season, often starting from the bench. All things being equal, should he build the confidence at the start of the EPL, play regularly, then we would be seeing the next “Goal king” in the EPL.

Recently, a heated argument sparked on social media about Morata’s his move to Chelsea, his last performance, and how challenging his role was in the rather “Compact team” of Real Madrid, with more experience stars, having the world best players offered him that luxury to bang in more goals. Now, he will be in the toughest league in the world, where much expectation and criticism from media and fans will eventually get hold of him, a league one cannot explicitly predict the winner, with aggressive midfielders and defenders awaiting the incredible attacker.

In addition, the claim of Morata being abreast with the Spanish style of play may adversely inhibits his performance at the commencement of the season. One may expect him to first win the hearts of the fans in his first five appearances for the Blues, score at least a goal in each match would definitely position him well in the team and EPL.

Among the big clubs in the world, comparably Chelsea has the big names, the sharp attacking line up and aggressive - defensive midfielders whose responsibilities on the pitch goes beyond distributing balls, giving sharp penetrating passes, intercepting the balls of opponent and scoring from the least chance available.

Morata would be a good replacement for Diego Costa upfront likely to boost the campaign of Chelsea in the 2017/2018 Champions League, EPL, FA Cup among others.

His value keeps appreciating from transfers since after moving from Real Madrid to Juventus, Juventus to Real Madrid and Real Madrid to Chelsea, €20 million in 2014, bought back for €30 million in 2016 and approximately €68million in 2017.

From the chat above, in his first move from Real Madrid to Juventus with a transfer of €20millon, his value in return when he was transferred back to Real Madrid appreciated to €10million (€30million – €20million). Which means, holding interest rates constants, agent fee constant then, Juventus made a substantial return from Morata. In addition, his move from Real Madrid to Chelsea has exponentially grew by €38million. That means, statistically Real Madrid made €28million from his entire move (€38million - €10million).

From the above, it is likely his value would increase should he maintain his performance, aiming a peak in his career with between €75 million and €80milion in his next transfer from Chelsea. Should he deep in performance the value would still increase but with a small margin of about €7million.
Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata since he made his first international debut for the Senior National team in 2014 at the Euro 2016, he has won 20 caps for Spain, nine goals.
