Columbus Crew Centre back and
former Ghana Under 20 player was captured by media in Ghana for scoring his
debut goal in the MLS game against Orlando City FC. What
has been described as “history repeating itself”, when he scored a similar goal
in his game in Ghana, repeated the same in Dayton University and now for
Columbus Crew.
The determined defender has a strength in his header and great jump. The
first video which captured Lalas in an outstanding header in a decider match
between Commonwealth Hall and Legon Hall in the University of Ghana Soccer league
which has also unearthed a lot of talents.
Notable amongst them are: Amankona Frederick in, popular known as Amass in Real
Salt Lake in the MLS, Quincy Appah famously known as Rhoobobo, Acheampong Mexes
Saad,Amankwaah Alexander affectionately called Bechem among others.
Abubakar scored similar goals for Dayton University which many of his
loyal fan describe as the “faith goals”.
Below are the images and videos was recently captured and analysed. All
were free kicks which was taken at the left side by a left footed player and
the goal was scored at the left side of the goal post. One sharp observation
that the player that was made; a left handed but plays with both foot. He scored
more than 12 goals for Dayton University in their competitions including friendly
games.

Speaking to the Dayton media, he mentioned that his ambition is to become
a professional footballer. Often, the notion that footballers in Africa do not
like academics is quite the opposite. There are several African players in the
colleges and Universities schooling and playing football, attaining academic
excellence as well.
With much experience as a centre back, Lalas Abubakar, a former Ghana Under
20 player hopes to play for the major leagues in the world.
“Anywhere I go, I try to work hard and make it in the team and also help
the team to win laurels. After having series of chat with some of the coaches
in Dayton, I was optimistic that I will learn a lot in the game that will help
me in my career. I have learned a lot and improved. Its my dream to be a
professional player…”Abubakar mentioned to Dayton media
