In ensuring peace on campus, the President of Old Vandals stated that they will be connecting with the Alumni of Mensah Sarbah to provide a long lasting solution to the challenges.

"Following the incidence in March this year, we set out to find a lasting solution to this ugly impasse between the Commonwealth Hall and the Mensah Sarbah Hall."

REMARKS BY OVA AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE ORGANISED BY THE COUNCIL OF COMMONWEALTH HALL

Good morning, Ladies & Gentlemen.

I am the National President of the Old Vandals Association (OVA) and I speak for and on behalf of the Association.

1. CONDEMNATION OF INCIDENCE

We are appalled and alarmed by the extent of damage caused. Not only the damage to property, but equally important, the damage to the reputation of this University.

We condemn in no uncertain terms the perpetrators and call for immediate and perpetual ceasefire.

We understand that the matter is being investigated by the Ghana Police Service. We have full confidence in IGP Dr. George Akufo Dampare, his officers, men and women, that, as they have demonstrated in recent times, they will get to the bottom of this as well.

We shall not rest until the perpetrators are caught and dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.

2. PURPORTED REMOVAL FROM OFFICE OF THE MASTER AND SENIOR TUTOR OF THE HALL

We have been advised by our Legal Team that the purported removal from office of our Hall Master and Senior Tutor by the University authority is ultra vires and amounts to an assault on the rule of law.

We are happy to learn that the Hall Council had already taken it up with the University Council. We add our voice to this and call upon the University Council to rescind its decision with the same haste.

We stand ready to ensure that the rule of law prevails in this community at all times.

Watch this space!

3. ENSURING PEACE ON CAMPUS

Following the incidence in March this year, we set out to find a lasting solution to this ugly impasse between the Commonwealth Hall and the Mensah Sarbah Hall.

We planned instituting an annual sports festival between the Halls – i.e., CH & MSH.

We are still in the market – as we speak – looking for sponsors.

We are determined to bring back the love that existed between the two Halls.
In the very near future, we will - acting in concert with the Vikings - announce the Way Forward.

4. COMPOSITION OF THE HALL

This Hall - the Vandal City - is for Males and Males only.

It is incumbent on every Vandal to, and we do guard this jealously.

So, any attempt by any person to touch the status quo will be vehemently resisted. We shall resort to all legitimate means at our disposal to protect the sanctity of this City of ours.

No one should underestimate the might of Vandals. We abhor violence! We preach peace and we speak nothing but the TRUTH.

For those who care, let them listen!

Thank you.
