*Why do you want to attack Love*
President Mahama traces his love for Vandalism to how he was treated by unknown gentlemen when he first got to the Potters Lodge.
He recounts how the guys helped him carry his bags and assisted him go through the registration formalities until his belongings were sent to his room in A38 and the rest as to how his life was molded as a complete gentleman that gave him broad social capital before he walked out from the Vandal City shall remain an experience that will stay with him forever.
I was admitted into A10 (a box room) in level 200 and we were on paper supposed to be 10 in the room. The reality was that we became 16 because other students were offered admission and didn’t have accommodation so their friends who were lucky to get accommodation brought them. Initially the real occupants protested and some suggested we evict them from the room. The self styled human rights activists and social commentator made a statement that settled the matter. We have all gathered here because we want a better life for ourselves and our brothers who have come from the Brong Ahafo and Northern regions also deserve a better life and it is not any fault of theirs that they cannot find accommodation on campus. This was how we co-existed with Nurudeen, Amponsah and other four “perchers".
After so many years, I met Nurudeen in Tamale his joy was beyond measure and couldn’t hold his tears as he recounted how that intervention I made turned his life around.
The city of equals where the "haves" and "have nots" share their food, books and clothes. If you are hungry in your room, just wash your spoon 🥄 and pocket same as you tiptoe from room to room, you will be full in no time. As we call it every food in Commonwealth Hall belongs to all. This is how many people without enough resources completed their courses and same applies to how we shared academic reading materials
I recount my experience in School of Administration where as part of our school week celebration which I actively took part, I was supposed to play a role in a “ mock” Annual General Meeting but I didn’t have a suit to wear. Guess what? It took a VMATE to see through my silence and the need to provide me one.
The only hall where final year students will organize and teach fresh students with African studies/ School of performing arts courses weeks before their exams.
The life story of how a Vandal got his first job has become too common but when you are posted to a place where you don’t know anyone you will appreciate it when you see a car with the Vandal Penant hoisted in it. That was my experience when I was posted to Bawku to work. I had been in town for two weeks and putting up at the Presby Health Care Guest House in the Hospital. One hot afternoon the place was too hot so I decided to go to the office to work and also cool off with the Airconditiion there. On the main commercial street from Natinga to Zanamat I saw this BMW with the Vandals Penants.
I immediately flagged my hand ✌🏿and he stopped and the instant coffee bond of friendship established. He took me to his house where I was served a hot meal and before long he took me to my room at the guest house to pack my bags. In fact I stayed in his bungalow until I finally got a suitable place to move in.
This is the love Nana AMA Amfo wants to kill
